Requiem by Callie Hart
Sypnosis
SORRELL
He’s going to pay for what he’s done…
Theo Merchant was born into a kind of privilege I’ve never known.
He has everything I don’t: Money. A private school education. Popularity. A bright and shiny future, full of success to look forward to. He took the only thing I had going for me—my best friend, Rachel. Now that she’s gone, I have nothing left to lose.
I will infiltrate his world.
I will cradle his worthless heart in my hands.
I will burn down his entire life and destroy everything he holds dear.
I haven’t enrolled at Toussaint Academy to learn.
I’ve come to destroy a monster…
…and I won’t leave until he’s dead.
THEO
She has no idea what she’s getting herself into…
Sorrell Voss is intelligent, caustic as hell, and quite possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She’s also going to get herself f#cking killed.
She’s a fool if she thinks I’ll go easy on her just because she’s broken.
You don’t venture into the lion’s den and walk away unscathed.
She has her secrets. That’s fine.
*My* secrets will unravel her until she comes apart at the seams.
She will bow to me, and she will break.
Then, and only then, will I make her mine.
Review:
I am still reeling from the whole book. I just am not sure exactly how I am going to write this review or even what to think of this book. I will say for certain that this was one of the most original dark academia books I have come across. Most of the dark academia is recycled and redundant but this one basically slaps the others out of the way and presents the same academia formula in a different fashion giving it a far different taste.
There were twists to this story that I really was not expecting. I don't really think I ever saw it coming. Maybe I knew something was coming and just didn't want to see it at that point. I wanted a surprise and I refused to allow anything to spoil it and that meant even any sneaking suspicion.
To be honest, I came across this book being reviewed on Book Tok. The reviewers never offer spoilers and not often teasers either. They only want you to into a book blindly and this was one of those books.
I went in expecting it to be like every other story but I found myself glued to the book until the very end and realized that this one sets itself apart and I was happy with the ending. I think I just added Theo to my book boyfriends. xD Seriously, I have a list already!
