They said it was an accident…
Sawyer Dodd is a star athlete, a straight-A student, and the envy of every other girl who wants to date Kevin Anderson. When Kevin dies in a tragic car crash, Sawyer is stunned. Then she opens her locker to find a note:
You’re welcome.
Someone saw what he did to her. Someone knows that Sawyer and Kevin weren’t the perfect couple they seemed to be. And that someone—a killer—is now shadowing Sawyer’s every move…
Review:
This is one book I am not sure how I want to rate it nor even how to do a review for it. I have been trying to write a review for this book for over an hour now and I just cannot put any of my disappointment into words. The premise was what drew me into this book - a death that appeared to be a murder. Scary notes were pushed into the locker. The relationship between Sawyer and Kevin was not as perfect as they made it out to be. All of this had the makings to draw a reader in and keep them on the edge of their seat.
Unfortunately, this book was not it for me. No matter how much I tried I could not find it within me to like Sawyer. Her character development seemed weak. She gives us vague hits that Kevin was abusing her but never any further information about what he was doing. And when those little messages start appearing she does not tell anyone. At first, I can see why she just brushes them off. One - I can see it as nothing more than someone playing mind games. But when another shows up? Yeah, I would find someone and tell them about it. I would not just sweep it under the rug and pretend it does not exist. The threats are there and it is your life that could be in trouble. DO NOT IGNORE THE WARNING SIGNS.
The ending was surprising. I was not expecting it to be the person that it turned out to be. I was thinking it was someone else entirely. I think that was the only merit of this book that will give it it's rating. Otherwise, I was not impressed with it.
