A BETROTHAL LACED WITH LIES
A CURSE NOT EASILY BROKEN
TWO FATES INTERTWINED
Roselyne Vaughn, Princess of Althene, knew any betrothal to her would exist to better serve her father’s kingdom, but she’d never expected a betrothal to him—the ruthless Seelie King an ocean away.
Declan Danchev, King of the Seelie Fae, is known across the realm for two things—his vicious magic, and how he murdered his father to steal the Seelie throne.
Once they arrive at the Seelie Court’s golden palace in the Faelands, Declan reveals that Roselyne is not merely a human, but a witch—a truth she must guard closely.
But the Seelie King carries another secret.
Before the witches disappeared, they cursed Declan, and now his powers are fading. A marriage to a witch will reverse his curse and bring him back to full power.
As the wedding draws nearer, the two work together to master Roselyne's newfound magic as she adapts to her place among the fae, and their initial disdain gives way to fiery passion.
When an attack is levied against Roselyne, Declan must decide what truly matters to him—the woman he was never supposed to love, or the throne he never deserved.
Review:
I was fortunate enough to receive this arc from the author so I was excited to find it waiting for me in my inbox last night. I managed to gobble up this novel in a few short hours and I was still thinking of it even as fell asleep.
This story has a ton of potential to be something that can be a book that a person will finish this book and still be thinking about it afterward. I understand a lot of authors have this as their biggest thing and want to set their books apart from the others. This book does it set it apart. Roselyne is a strong female who has been made a political bride to the Ruthless King of the Seelie. She has no desire to leave her home, but there is no choice. On the day of a wedding celebration, Declan, the Ruthless Seelie King, had come to get his bride.
Declan does not want to wait. He has come to take his bride back to his home. His magic needs Roselyne's witch blood to destroy the curse placed upon him. But as Roselyne settles into her new home, there is someone out there stirring up trouble and trying on numerous occasions to kidnap Roselyne. Declan grants Roselyne to teach her to protect herself, the two of them are finding it impossible to stay away from each other.
This book was a fun read. The storyline's bones were great and have a ton of potential to really expand. Declan and Roselyne's romance seemed just a bit forced. I would have liked them to be a bit slower and allow the characters to grow just a bit more.
The only downside is I knew who the villain was before even the end. It became clear when things started to disappear from the temple and his fake concerns were just apparent.
Despite all of this, I am really looking forward to seeing how this story will go especially with the cliffhanger.
