An alternate retelling that has Spider-man joining the Fantastic Four and Sue Storm choosing to follow Namor to Atlantis.
Review:
What if? issues change the landscape of reality and give an alternate look into what could have been changed should Spider-man have taken the job to become part of the Fantastic Four and Sue Storm's compassion for Namor during this manipulation. Unfortunately, the latter seems to be a bit of a problem for the current Fantastic Four team with Reed becoming a bit of an asshole forcing both Spider-man and Thing to leave the team.
And what makes things a bit worse is that Namor shows up to offer the two of them to come to see Sue but Reed's jealousy causes a lot of trouble with him trying to use altered footage to get the U.N. involved in destroying Atlantis. Of course, this does not work as Thing comes to the rescue and shows the truth, but this won't stop Reed and Johnny from going themselves to take Sue back.
This issue has always been a favorite of mine and I think it was the issue that would cement the pairing of Sue Storm and Namor as a favorite. Sue Storm's compassion for Namor and his love for her shows in the pages even when she is about to give birth, she pretty much shows she is badass and willing to die for not only her husband but also for the people she has come to love.
Reed and Johnny - not so much. I didn't like the fact they thought to start a war when it was unnecessary because Sue decided to go with Namor. They did not care about what the consequences of their actions could cause, only what they could gain for them.
This issue was a nice addition to my collection.
