Book Summary: From the dawn of the 20th century to the first meeting of Mr. Fantastic and Doctor Doom, learn the secrets of Marvel’s history! Who was John Steele? Which Western gunslinger helped inspire the first Heroic Age? All this and more – revealed!
Book Review: Ever wanted to know the entire history of the Marvel universe spanning 80 years? Well this series will help you bring you up to speed upon the Marvel universe without having to go out to buy the tons of different comics and spending thousands of dollars.

This issue picks up where the first issue has left off and where you will enter into the Golden Age of the Marvel universe. Here you are introduced to teams you have only skimmed over and probably have wondered their history. So here you will get it. Not an entirely large amount but enough to know what the team or hero did in the comics that made them part of the history of the Marvel universe.

On top of all that, we will finally get a definitive answer to that age-old question: what exactly is the nature of Mystique and Destiny's relationship. I am sure after all this time many of us have wondered exactly what is going on between them and it was nice to see that it is now canon. Mystique may not be a favorite of mine but I am glad to see that she does have someone who loves her and this made me happy.

This is quite an interesting series and I must say the artwork is impressive. In fact, it is far better than the art from the X-Men Grand Design. I was not a fan of that art at all. This one is really good and the history within the pages make this a well-worth issue to pick up to add to your collection.

Book Summary: From the Fantastic Four to the Death of Phoenix, witness the awe and majesty of the beginnings of the Modern Marvel Universe!
Book Review: Once more into the realm of the history of the Marvel Universe. This time it is the Silver Age of the Marvel universe. Here we get into the storylines that continue to have an impact on the Marvel world especially those storylines that changed a character completely or caused a character to die. These storylines have helped build the Marvel universe and its characters into franchise winners.

Galactus is still our narrator, telling Franklin a bedtime story of the Marvel Universe. Okay, Franklin isn't a child in this but this could, in a way, be a bedtime story. After all, the Marvel Universe has perhaps ceased to exist and thus Galactus believes that Franklin may be the key to returning things? But first he will need Franklin to know the complex history of the characters in this universe, their stories, their heartbreaks, and their triumphs against the evils of the world.

The only grip I have is the story of the Phoenix Saga. There is so much behind the Phoenix story that is quite shortened at the end. Simply she rose from the ashes to only die to save the universe. I can only surmise the shortened version because of the extensive history already placed in X-Men Grand Design about the Phoenix history within the Marvel Universe but what if the readers whom are just coming to start looking into these worlds but haven't quite picked up the Grand Design series.

Still this is a must-have series for those whom are just starting to look into the Marvel universe. It well worth the chance to collect.

Book Summary: All Hail the King and Queen of Thieves! The Thieves Guild has come to take what is theirs — where does that leave Rogue and Gambit?
Book Review: Since the moment Gambit asked Rogue to marry him at the defunct wedding of Colossus and Kitty, their marriage has become nothing but a rollercoaster of adventure and in this issue, this has not change whatsoever. While Rogue is dealing with X-Men business, Gambit has decided to return home to his guild. Unfortunately his homecoming seemed to be expected but what was not expected was to find Chandra, the Eternal, on his throne. Captured and at the mercy of Chandra, Gambit seems to be at her mercy. That is until there is commotion right outside the door. Here we find Rogue entering into the fray to rescue her husband from the clutches of the Guild and Chandra. But when Rogue is captured, Gambit is given the choice of sacrificing his wife and rejoining the guild. The question is: will this be the end of Gambit and Rogue?

I must say that it has been quite awhile since I last picked up an issue from this series. Work and school have been competing for my time and reading has become a bit of a rare event as of late. I do try to catch up on my days off but sometimes I have to put it off especially when homework needs to come first.

Still this is a wonderful guilty pleasure to return to. Gambit and Rogue continue to be a favorite and I would love to see how their marriage will play out further but glimpses of newer comics from the X-Universe seem to have wiped that out. I am hoping that this is not true and we will find the couple once again happy but I suppose that will remain to be seen.

But I digress and I am moving away from the subject at hand. This series seems to be coming to an end and thus the adventures of our newly married couple will be something to go down in history. Here is to hoping the final issue will be well worth the series.

Book Summary: Happily Ever After? Rogue and Gambit have had quite the year — will they finally be able to relax and enjoy marital bliss? Don’t bet on it!
Book Review: Candra has forced Remy to make a decision on whom to sacrifice: his ex-wife Belladonna or his current wife Rogue. But what Candra doesn't know is that Remy has come up with a plan of his own and has freed himself and sets out to free Rogue and Belladonna. The two women team up together to take down the Guild together and bring down Candra.

This is the final issue of what has been a great series. Rogue and Gambit's marriage has been quite the rollercoaster since the moment the two of them exchanged "I dos" in front of family and friends after the disasterous end to Colossus and Kitty. Their space honeymoon ended up being a rescue of the child belonging to Charles Xavier and Lilandra and then the two were drawn into a series of television series by Mojovision, and now this. I am sad to see this series end as it has especially as we are getting ready for the House of X/Power of X series that is to change - perhaps even shake things up - in the X-Universe.

So does this mean the marriage has been erased for the X-Universe? Perhaps and it may seem to be that way. Hopefully in this upcoming series there will still be a chance for the two to come together again.
