With each passing day, life in Dante becomes more complicated.

The duke is on trial, Emilia’s capital is slowly recovering from The Great Fire, and the treasury is almost depleted. To make matters worse, her servants keep misunderstanding her relationship with Prince Thessian. Add an attractive Pope with a smile to die for, and it’s a recipe for disaster waiting to happen.

What doesn’t help is that the dragon is still missing, and Sir Laurence seems to be a trouble magnet no matter where he goes.

As the side quests keep piling up, Emilia is forced to put her dream life on hold and possibly explore her feelings for a man who’s willing to do anything for her.

Yet, the enemies of the Crown never sit still. With new sinister plans in motion, the lives of Emilia’s subjects are at stake, and when Thessian falls into grave danger, the young queen is forced to make a choice that could bring about the destruction of her kingdom.

Review:

You have no idea how excited I have been since I was handed this book into my hands. I loved books one and two because the characters and storyline were original and captivating. I have been eagerly waiting to find out what happens next in the series.

Reading this series returns us to a world where Emilia was Isakei'ed into a book where she already knew the fate of her character and she changed her path. With it, she changed the entire direction of the book. I like the fact that we still see glimpses into the real world that she once belonged to. It is saturated as many novels would do this but it is subtle. Just a quick glimpse that is weaved right into the series without interfering with the storytelling.

And that is one of the reasons I have come to love this series. The characters remain well-rounded and feel that even the secondary characters' balance between first and secondary blends beautifully with their leads. And I love that, I love that the secondary characters don't continuously remain in the background. They have their moments to shine.

But then there is Laurence. This guy. You guys don't know how much I wheeze every time he pops up because I love his zingers.

"I need a raise."

Thessian shook Laurence off and folded his arms over his wide chest. "Why?"

Laurence balled his hands at his side. "I will not be a kept man! It is a matter of pride."

I don't think anyone could carry the comic relief as he does. He was just meant to be one of those characters who could come in and relieve the tension in the air. He is the perfect foil for Thessian. While Thessian is serious, Laurence is the opposite of his character.

Emilia cupped his cheeks and pulled his face down until they were an inch apart. "I hope you will take responsibility for those words.

She closed the gap between them and kissed him.

Gurrrl, you better be careful or you are going to have to build a harem next door to your rooms. LMAO!

Before I end this review, I must ask the author: WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME ON A CLIFFHANGER???? NOOOOOOOO!

Final Thought:

This has become one of my favorite series and I invite all interested readers to take a chance on a novel that offers you a glimpse into what Isakei is in manga and manhwa comics.
