Los Angeles, the City of Angels. Capital of the Celestial Society. We exist right under your nose, hiding in plain sight...

My life, from the outside, is perfect. I have everything a girl could ever want. Power. Status. Beauty. Loyal followers who worship the ground I walk on. Not only do I attend Luna Academy, the most elite university for feminine magic, but I am also the queen of it and the most powerful fireling to grace these halls in an age.

I’m untouchable.

At least, I was. Until him. Until the shadow with silver eyes invaded my life out of nowhere and took everything from me. He leaves a trail of terror and devastation everywhere he goes. He won’t stop until he gets what he wants. And what he wants is me. He says what he’s done to me was necessary. He says I belong with him. He’s as batsh*t crazy as he is powerful. When whispers of an ancient prophecy emerge, I can’t help but wonder if he’s right. Has fate brought us together?

I don’t care.

I have fire in my blood and a dragon’s temper. Even with the Fates and the odds stacked against me, I will not go down without a fight. And everyone knows shadows are no match for fire.

Review:

Have you ever read a fantasy romance and decided that you are rooting for the villain and the female lead to end up together? Don't get me wrong Jedidah is all right and everything but I just cannot see him being the one person who could (maybe) bring Nyx to heel (I really doubt anyone can bring Nyx to heel). There is something about the dynamic between Solaris and Nyx. I cannot quite put my finger on it and maybe this is just because it is the first book of the series.

I found this book while surfing through BookSirens one evening. The premise sounded promising and grabbed my attention quite quickly. Although quite badass, the female lead seems to believe herself invincible. After all, she has made quite a name for herself. She is proud, defiant, and confident. Everything she should be but when Solaris comes into her life, he knocks all of that out of her. Making her vulnerable and uncertain. Her abilities were everything to her and yet she finds herself struggling with trying to cope with their slight loss. Solaris is out to remold her and

I love when novels make you think of them afterward. You end up playing so many different scenarios in your head because you see so many directions this book can go. The characters were fun. The world-building, although quite amazing, did have some rough edges, but I suppose that can be due to it being the first of the series. And the ending? Chef's kiss for such a cliffhanger.
