Blurb:
Rory thought a night of thrills in a haunted corn maze would be a fun escape with her friends. But when the scare actors begin to feel too real, she soon realizes that something far more dangerous is lurking among the shadows. A scarecrow begins to focus his chilling attention on her, his unsettling presence turning her night of fun into a twisted nightmare. What begins as fear evolves into something far darker as Rory becomes inexplicably drawn to him.
As her friends begin to disappear one by one, Rory is forced into a deadly game of predator and prey, her every move watched by the man behind the mask. But beneath the burlap and paint, he's more than just a scare actor. He’s a predator in every sense, and Rory is about to discover that she has a darkness inside her just as deep and twisted as his.
Trapped in the maze, her desire to survive collides with her growing obsession. Will Rory escape with her life, or will she surrender completely to the darkness within—and to the man who embodies it?
STALK is a dark, sensual thriller where the lines between terror and temptation cross, and giving in might be Rory’s only way out.
Review:
As Autumn's cold fingers brush against the last remnants of summer, the sleepy town of Mistletoe Falls comes alive with vibrant colors of red, orange, and yellow. Children with rosey cheeks enjoy the fresh air and coming cold as parents and townspeople bustle around as the Autumn Harvest festival is in full swing. Parents, teenagers, and children flock to enjoy the smells of hot dogs and cotton candy on the rides of the carnival.
Rory and her friends decide to head through the haunted maze. As they get further in, Rory and her friends find themselves being picked off, leaving Rory to face the murderous scarecrow that seemed to be stalking them. But there is something about the darkness in the scarecrow that draws Rory to the darkened soul of the scarecrow.
I enjoyed the story, especially the dark and dangerous scarecrows who stalk their female all the way through the corn stalks. These are the types of autumn/Halloween tales I tend to enjoy. This one was unique in its own way but still nice, dark, and sexy.
