Sypnosis: Welcome to Carnage Island.
Home of brutal chaos.
Blood and tears.
And nefarious schemes.
A half-breed.
A reject.
A wolf without a mate.
My family doesn't want me.
My alpha disowned me.
And my mate rejected me.
So I’ve just been given a new pack assignment.
Carnage Island.
Home to the worst of wolf kind.
Vicious. Cruel beasts. Wicked deeds.
I’m not one of them.
But I’m not a Nantahala wolf either.
I’m something distinctly other; an Omega trapped in an Alpha’s skin.
One step toward my fate, and all the males turn their heads.
I’m fresh meat.
Property to be claimed.
Hide and seek is now a game of life and death.
With claws and teeth.
And malice and pain.
Only the strongest will survive.
Enter at your own peril.
Author’s Note: This is a dark shifter story with omegaverse undertones. Three Alpha males, one Omega female. There will be biting and violence because these Alphas will stop at nothing to protect their mate. And she’ll claim them back just as fiercely.
Review: -sighs- Another disappointment for this year and we just started!
I was really on the fence with the whole plotline especially when rape is part of the beginning. I had gone into this thing not reading any of the other reviews and perhaps I should have. It would have prepared me a little better when it came to reading the story. The whole thing happens within the first two chapters and it nearly turned me off from this book, but I decided to push forward and see if the story could change me.
It didn't. I skimmed over a lot of the story and pretty much pondered a DNF on this one.
Clover - I felt sorry for her, especially in the beginning. Her entire life changed in a single night and she is forced from the one place where she has known her entire life. On top of that, she has shifted into her wolf and her wolf has no intentions of letting Clover back. This is more of a protective measure and I loved the wolf for this. She gave Clover the chance to recover from the trauma. Although I sympathized with her, I could not connect with her character in any way possible. Maybe I felt that she let this entire thing get to her and I get it - I would have probably been the same way but I think my entire need for revenge would have outweighed all of it. I didn't feel like Clover really had that in her.
As for her three males, I am not sure what to think of them. Each one is different and each one wants to mate with her, but I don't know. There seemed to be something missing from the entire relationship between the four. Maybe the whole instant-love trope (that is what it felt like to me) doesn't vibe with me. I like to see things take their time but with the Omegaverse things are not that simple.
And I get it - the Omegaverse isn't a romantic walk in the park. It is dark, dangerous, and filled with every corner of the dark desire for the Alpha to consume the Omega. Seen it in manhuas. I may have enjoyed some of those but this one - this one just was not for me.
