Title: Deceived by the Gargoyles

Series: Monstrous Matches #2

Author: Lillian Lark

Genre: Fiction, Romance, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Contemporary, Polygamous, Adult, Erotica

Status: Finished

Rating: 4/5

Sypnosis: A curvy librarian looking to start a family, a clan of gargoyles, and the deception that starts it all.

My family has always found me lacking. From the way I dress, how I look, to the type of magic I have. My family name is full of pomp and prestige, and I want nothing to do with it.
I’m a witch that knows how to set a goal and I have one in mind.

I want a real family.

Dating is a travesty. All the suitors I meet are looking for a connection to the family name I left behind. I need help.
Enter the matchmaker. It seems too good to be true that I can give her the list of traits I want in a partner and have my deepest desire answered, but I’m out of options.

Love comes along in the most unexpected ways.

From the very first moment I meet Elliot Bramblewick, I have hope. But he’s tricky.
I’m not expecting him to be hiding two other mates. Mates who are as alarmed and intrigued by my presence as I am by theirs.
He thinks I’m a perfect fit for them, but can I open my heart and discard my list long enough to see if this is the family I’m looking for?

None of my lists and plans prepared me for being courted by three gargoyles.

Deceived by the Gargoyles is a standalone monster romance in the same world as Stalked by the Kraken with multiple love interests who are in relationships with each other. There will be no choosing among the love interests.

Review: I want a real family.

Who doesn't? I mean, would you not take a chance to fall in love if you are offered a monstrous romance with a creature of ethereal shapeshifting abilities?

Grace is a witch who comes from a powerful, overbearing family. They want to be the deciding factor on who she dates and who she marries, but Grace is having none of that. She has already made her a list of what she wants from a suitor and Elliot seems to check off everything on that list. But what is Grace to do when she finds out that her gargoyle has three other mates? Can she find it within herself to join an already established family of male gargoyles looking to add another potential mate to their family?

I love the bathhouse series. It has become one of my favorite monster romances and the characters always feel like friends. They never feel two-dimensional but more like someone you are listening to as they tell you the story of their romance with otherworldly beings. The only downside is I would love to see more world-building. This world has so much potential and there seems to be so much more to the inhabitants of this world that I would love to learn about. I really hope we see more of the bathhouse in the coming future.

I definitely am looking forward to reading more from this series and I cannot wait to see what creature might be next.

Title: Found by the Lake Monster

Series: Monstrous Matches #1.5

Author: Lillian Lark

Genre: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Romance, Folklore, Monsters, Mythological, Contemporary, Erotica, Adult

Status: Finished

Rating: 4/5

Sypnosis: A lake monster in heat, a lost human in the woods, and the lie that gets her stuffed…

Getting lost in the woods was not the adventure Amy had in mind when she jumped at the chance to search for the local lake monster. She just wanted to liven up her steady but boring life, not wonder if every shadow on the ground is a snake and worry that no one will ever find her.

Luckily, someone does find her.
Unexpectedly, that person isn't human.
Wildly, he seems to think that she's his date.

Adrian faces what could be his last heat. As his temperature rises and his biological clock ticks, his only hope is that the witch being sent by a famous matchmaker will be as compatible as he dreams.

Can he convince his date to not only provide relief during his heat but also carry his eggs?

Review: Typically, I avoid stories that have insta-love because sometimes they never work well in levels and make the relationship feel more forced than the characters falling in love with each other. So, I was skeptical about checking this one out, but I had read the first book in the series and already loved the romances and decided that this one deserved a chance.

I admit the insta-love in this one really worked for both characters. I love how the two of them click the moment they meet. You could feel the chemistry between them and I really liked that. It made the romance a lot more believable.

Adrian has become my favorite monster. He is romantic, caring, and always concerned about his partner when it comes to intimate sex between himself and his partner. He doesn't want to scare away her from him. I loved that about him. I enjoyed how he was careful and concerned with not just himself during his heat but with her too. Can I have a guy like this?

Amy is different from our last female lead. She's not a witch or has any supernatural powers but a human who has set out to find out if the legend of the lake monster is real. She is not afraid of him when she encounters him and she feels like there is something there for him. So, she pretends to be his date until his date calls. She knows she lied but there is something about him that has drawn her to him and she wants more than anything to help with his heat - by being his partner.

I loved this couple. They clicked and made their insta-romance believable. They are cute and the sort of couple that I swoon over. Seriously, Amy and Adrian are cute together!

This is my second book by Lillian Lark and it has become one of my favorites. I am looking forward to reading her next book in this series.

Title: Stalked by the Kraken

Series: Monstrous Matches #1

Author: Lillian Lark

Genre: Folklore, Shapeshifters, Monsters, Romance, Paranormal, Adult, Erotica

Status: Finished

Rating: 4/5

Sypnosis: A matchmaking witch, an ancient sea creature, and the sex contract they make.

Welcome to the Love Bathhouse where desire and acceptance are in the water.

The Witch

Celibacy is a bad look for a matchmaker.

Especially a matchmaker who works at the kind of paranormal bathhouse that would have grandmothers clutching their pearls.
A worse look is a matchmaker experiencing a crisis of confidence.
I am that matchmaker.

We need raw magic, desperately.

And now a mysterious man walks into my office, offering me the exact solution I need.
The problem is that he wants to be matched… with me.
Matching doesn’t work for me; I found that out the hard way.

The Kraken

I saw her and the creature inside me wanted.

She doesn’t want a relationship. She says that the most we can have are the three nights she promised me, but the dark part of myself isn’t going to let the woman who snared its attention go.

I found her. I hunted her. She’s mine.

**Stalked by the Kraken is a monster romance that features tentacles. This book is a standalone and takes place in the same world as, and prior to the events of, Three of Hearts with some character crossover.

Content Warning: Book includes breeding behavior and mentions infertility

Review: I cannot believe I find the monster romances to be far better than the cheesy, bodice-ripping romances I used to read as a teenager. Seriously, I really do like these better because the storylines tend to be unique, the monster is far different from the hero and much sexier, and the sex is drool-worthy.

Seriously, I need to find an AA-type group for these stories because I haven't quite found one story that would take me out of this world quite yet and I have read a ton of hentai so these are quite tamed compared to those mangas.

Our Female Lead is a match-making witch who runs a bathhouse. Here couples can come to enjoy sex-positive romances in the privacy of these rooms. Our FL thought she had managed to match herself well with another named Jackson, but that ended up in a bust and our FL swears off romance in order to focus on match-making others.

Our Male Lead is a treasure hunter who feels he has lived such longevity of life. One day while in the cafe, he hears our FL talking which awakens the beast within him who wants nothing more than to hunt his little mate.

A necklace. A set of wards. And a Kraken on the hunt for his mate sets the plot for this story.

I really enjoyed this one. The romance and storyline were fun and the characters were great. I would love to revisit this place, especially the side characters because I would love to know if her cousin got what he wanted. xD

Seriously, take a chance with this one. It is really sweet.
