Sypnosis: A lake monster in heat, a lost human in the woods, and the lie that gets her stuffed…
Getting lost in the woods was not the adventure Amy had in mind when she jumped at the chance to search for the local lake monster. She just wanted to liven up her steady but boring life, not wonder if every shadow on the ground is a snake and worry that no one will ever find her.
Luckily, someone does find her.
Unexpectedly, that person isn't human.
Wildly, he seems to think that she's his date.
Adrian faces what could be his last heat. As his temperature rises and his biological clock ticks, his only hope is that the witch being sent by a famous matchmaker will be as compatible as he dreams.
Can he convince his date to not only provide relief during his heat but also carry his eggs?
Review: Typically, I avoid stories that have insta-love because sometimes they never work well in levels and make the relationship feel more forced than the characters falling in love with each other. So, I was skeptical about checking this one out, but I had read the first book in the series and already loved the romances and decided that this one deserved a chance.
I admit the insta-love in this one really worked for both characters. I love how the two of them click the moment they meet. You could feel the chemistry between them and I really liked that. It made the romance a lot more believable.
Adrian has become my favorite monster. He is romantic, caring, and always concerned about his partner when it comes to intimate sex between himself and his partner. He doesn't want to scare away her from him. I loved that about him. I enjoyed how he was careful and concerned with not just himself during his heat but with her too. Can I have a guy like this?
Amy is different from our last female lead. She's not a witch or has any supernatural powers but a human who has set out to find out if the legend of the lake monster is real. She is not afraid of him when she encounters him and she feels like there is something there for him. So, she pretends to be his date until his date calls. She knows she lied but there is something about him that has drawn her to him and she wants more than anything to help with his heat - by being his partner.
I loved this couple. They clicked and made their insta-romance believable. They are cute and the sort of couple that I swoon over. Seriously, Amy and Adrian are cute together!
This is my second book by Lillian Lark and it has become one of my favorites. I am looking forward to reading her next book in this series.
