School’s out, but the fun never arrived. The enemy is no longer on our doorstep. They’re inside, wreaking havoc in the form of both perceived friends and known foes.

Making what was supposed to be a summer of celebration into an endless string of heartache that led us to one Brutal Revelation. Brutal Revelation is a novella in the Edgewood Academy Elite Series. It is a slow burn why choose dark high school romance. Meaning the main character will end up with more than one love interest. As the series progresses, so will the level of darkness.

It is an 18+ series with profanity, a feisty heroine, bullying, and obsessive and possessive themes.

Review:

I love novellas especially when they bridge the story between books. They are meant to be short and should progress a story and characters further into development which would add more depth to the next book in the series. This one did nothing. Not a single thing. The characters and storyline did not progress.

I didn't see a reason for this novella. I feel like this should have been on either part of the final pages for the second book or the beginning of the next book.

I am not even sure I am going to continue this series. It has been such a disappointment.

Edgewood threatens to chew me up and spit me out.

Since moving to town, my life has been turned on its axis. Everything I thought I knew is a lie, and even as secrets are revealed, more questions arise.

I’ve been forced into a ruthless game—one with deadly consequences in order to take care of my siblings in my parents’ absence. A game that has the Queen Bee of the school out for my blood because the heirs of the school are fighting to win me over.

The question is, are their motives pure, or will I be on the receiving end of a Ruthless Rejection?

Review:

I have been mulling over this book for over an hour and a half. Part of me loved the first book because we got introduced to this wild society filled with secrets, selections, and tons of drama. This one had the same vibe to it but it came out mediocre and the entire storyline was beginning to grate on my nerves. The characters never seemed to have any growth to them and the whole drama was getting stale. There was nothing within this story that would have salvaged my feel for it. There were time jumps, and Samantha's temper tantrums (that seemed to be growing old especially since she is supposed to be an almost adult).

No matter how much I tried to enjoy this book, I would have to step away from it. Go do something and come back, but it never seemed to help the story to get any better. I had so many expectations for this book because I enjoyed the first one. The second ones are usually the most promising, but this one was not.

I am hoping the upcoming third novel restores my faith in this series.

Twisted Selection (Edgewood Academy Elite #1) by P.H. Nix

Sypnosis
Edgewood Elite rule this town, but that doesn’t mean they can rule me.
After my dad goes missing, my family falls apart. News of an inheritance from a long-lost relative gives us the restart we need. At least, that’s what I think until we get there.

Edgewood Academy is ruled by the town’s four heirs.
Wes, broody and stuck up, wants me run out of town. He never misses an opportunity to tell me he thinks I’m trash and don’t belong.
Wyatt, the jokester who wants to possess me, doesn’t take no for an answer. From day one, he told me I would be theirs. He looks at me like he wants to fuse our souls.
Lev, silent but edgy, his calculating indifference runs hot and cold on the best of days. I don’t know if he wants to own me or destroy me.
Owen, dark and depraved, I don’t know what happened in his past, but his darkness seeks out my darkness.

Whatever the heirs have in store for me pales to the real reason I was brought here. A deal made long ago locked me into a deadly game.

Will I survive this Twisted Selection?

Review:
I cannot believe I was able to gobble up this book in just a few short hours. I honestly was not expecting to invest myself entirely in this book and fall off the couch when I came to the end - a very naughty cliffhanger. How am I supposed to go on until the second book comes out?

I came across this book. I am not even sure how or when. I know it was not Book Tok because I have not seen this book being pimped by other readers. I am only going to consider that I was going through GoodReads when I came across it. I loved the premise. It contained my favorite tropes: reverse harem, dark, academia, and obsessive/possessive boys. This book has it all and I am really glad that I went ahead and picked it up. Lately, I have been on a book kick. Most of the books have been pretty good and this one was not a disappointment by any means.

RiRi is our FMC and she is doing everything in her power to balance taking care of her siblings, finding her missing mother and father, and surviving high school. It does not help when she becomes the target of the Edgewood heirs and the unhinged Samantha Davenport. Things get worse when she becomes selected and things start happening around her. Now RiRi will have to do everything she can to protect her siblings and learn why this happening to her.

I am dying to see what happens in the next book. I had to look up to see when book two is coming out. Next month. Does anyone know if this is going to be a duet or a trilogy? Part of me thinks it is going to be the latter. I would not mind this being either because this series has a lot of potentials to keep the reader coming back for more and for this series to continue in the collective minds of its readers.
