Book Review: I would like to thank edelwiss and the publisher for giving me a chance to read this book prior to it's release.

I never thought there would be a bigger disappointment in a new release as there was for this one. I had been looking forward to reading this book since I first read the premises of the book.

This book follows two women - Rille, the Blood Queen, and Elianna, whom is currently known as "Dread of Orline." In the prologue, we learn a lot about Rille. Her tale begins like that of any villains do - with an ending. We find her having given birth to her only child but there seems to have been a change of heart within her. Often this comes from a villain, there usually seems to be something to change their view on how they have lived their lives and use a single moment to change what they know they can never undo. Rille's story is no different.

Rille's climb to becoming the "Blood Queen" is really no different from other tales weaved of villains. Her powers manifest when she is saving her best friend. Because she has all these powers and many people within her kingdom believe she is the prophesied "Sun Queen". To prove this, she is set to take some trials.

Elianna, on the other hand, is different. She is fierce, doesn't care to listen to anyone or what advice they give, but she has a heart of gold. Elianna has no idea of her real past. In fact, she doesn't remember much of it and was raised pretty much by another family. But then, her "mother" goes missing and this sends Elianna out on a mission to find her.

I won't lie that prologue pulled me but the rest of the story just seemed to fall apart from there. It's pace pulled between two different women. The sex really does not really add much to the story except we have two cats in heat. Seriously? If I want to see two cats in heat, I can go outside during mating season and see cats going at it.

I was so disappointed in this book. I had been looking forward to reading this since I had first came across it and read the premise for it.

Will I read the sequel? I might. I have always been told that normally the sequels get better with the series. So I may just keep an open mind for it.
