The lake is lovely, dark, and deep…

And with my monsters I will sleep.

When a secret society offers me an invitation to stay in their isolated forest retreat, I can’t possibly refuse. Not if I want to find out what my mother was hiding before she died.

But it’s not just any forest. The noises in the woods at night aren’t animals—they’re monsters.

They watch me from the trees, slither through the lake, and creep in the shadows outside my window.

By day, the society hides their secrets from me. By night, I disappear into the world of monsters and discover secrets of my own.

Secrets about being meant for their world, the Void.

About how they’re going to keep me forever, enthralled by their claws and primal hunger.

Possessed with desire for fangs and horns.

Embraced by tentacles and their insatiable cravings.

But I’m not just here to dig into the past.

The society’s retreat is not what it seems. There must be a sacrifice…

And that sacrifice is me.

An Invocation of Monsters is a steamy fast-burn standalone romance with knots, bioluminescent tentacles, and three possessive monsters. For mature readers only.

Review:

While book one follows Juno, this book follows her cousin, Elle. At her mother's funeral, Elle receives an invitation to the Wendigo Secret Society. Although the invitation seems suspicious, Elle finds no reason to turn it down. After all, it had been the place where her mother had been part of and it was also the place, she would come to learn, where her mother disappeared to once a month. But there is something hunting the monsters and Elle must find out who or what it is.

Ever since reading the first book in this series, I have been highly anticipating the return to the Void but I knew this one would be different. A different location, different monsters, a secret cult, and a possible sighting of Juno and her monsters making small cameos, and honestly, I was not at all disappointed.

I am going to be honest - I actually thought that one of the monsters would have been a Wendigo. I say this because I saw that the society was named Wendigo. I thought, "Okay, I have read Wendigo monster smut in several other novels. Let's see how this one is." And now I see how totally wrong I was. There was no Wendigo, bummer. A bit disappointed. Nevertheless, her monsters were perfection. Beautiful creatures. Each one is unique and different. I just wish they had a bit more action toward the ending. I would have loved to see that.

I loved the added world-building to The Void and I hope that if there is to be a book three or more that it is continued to be built further on. I would love to know more about the guardians, the children that are born between the human female and her monsters, and hopefully some lore. I want to know everything about The Void the author is willing to give us.

I loved Elle. I loved that when something went wrong she did not cry or lay in bed, but went looking for her monsters. I love the trust she had for them and how they protected her fiercely. This is the kind of relationship I enjoy seeing being built in monster romances - the built-up of trust and romance in a relationship. Although the story seemed to be rushing to establish the relationships, it did not feel like it. It felt slow down until the trust was built. A chef's kiss to the spice and romance.

By the way, I am adding these monsters to my Book Boyfriend List. LOL

Also, I need more. Will there be more in the future? I sure hope so.

Sypnosis: Here there be monsters.

It was an offer too good to refuse: spend one month in the most haunted house in the world. When the reclusive owner of Duskwood Manor opens the door to five teams of paranormal investigators, there’s no way my team can say no.

But there are no ghosts here.

There are monsters.

They live under my bed, in my closet, and watch me from the shadows, whispering filthy visions in my ear at night.

Begging me to come with them to their world—the Void, where the monsters roam free… where they teach me what it really means to want.

Every night I disappear from the mortal world to play in theirs, swallowed by their insatiable, terrifying shadows.

Consumed by their claws and fangs.

Caressed by slick tentacles and endless, delicious hunger.

But the longer I stay in the Void, the harder it is to ignore its call.

There is a price to pay for stepping foot in this manor…

And the monsters have demanded me.

Review: Noooo! I want more! I don't want to wait until this year for the next book! ;.:

So, does anyone knows where we could find a mysterious island where there be monsters of our very own?

Seriously, this book - I could not even put it down even for a moment. I refused to grab another drink or make something to eat until the very end because the book was that good. Normally, I can put down a book and grab the things I needed but this one - this one I could not. I started reading this book around midnight and did not let it go until the wee hours of the morning. I think I even cried because book 2 is not out until this year. ;.;

Monster males who have been waiting for their female finally manage to have her in their grasp and the great thing is that she is not whiny or scared or running for the hills to get away from them. She doesn't care what they look like. In fact, there were moments she initiated sex. I found her wholly refreshing and so much better than these other whiny other females.

The monsters are quite impressive and I loved each one. They were completely devoted to her and would do anything to protect her. I loved that about them. I am surprised they were willing to share. LOL I know that Rask hated sharing with the others and was quite adamant about Juno being his and his only, I found that absolutely cute! But he does share and I am pretty sure it is not his liking.

All that aside, the world-building and storyline were just enough to rope me into wanting more of this series and I am quite looking forward to that.
